March, 1999. Farmville, Virginia. I was in college; one of those periods where all you can do is look at your 18 dollars thru the glass of an ATM screen because it’s too small to withdraw. I applied for extra money in my student loan so I could buy food and gas after tuition was paid. I told the bank that I didn’t want a job. I only wanted to focus on my studies. They bought it, and I was rewarded $1700.00. The very same day I received that check I cashed it in, closed my account, and starting driving to California. This is the only job I’ve had since then. It was a good bet.
